Rene Lalique (1860-1945) was an important French glass artist and designer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Lalique was born on a farm in the French champagne region. After the family moved to Paris, they still returned to the country for vacations every summer, and they have been doing it all their lives. The experience of living in the countryside has an important influence on Lalique's creative themes and naturalistic style.
René Lalique has won great honors for incorporating colored glass into his jewelry designs by using the glass casting process in jewelry and integrating imitation gemstones, so he has won many awards in design competitions.
He was well-received for his Art Nouveau jewelry for actress Sarah and many aristocrats. René Lalique gave a glass seminar in 1902, and since then Lalique has developed a keen interest in lost wax casting of glass.
He made a prototype out of wax, poured a plaster shell, removed the wax at a high temperature, left a plaster mold with a cavity and poured molten glass into it. After cooling, the mold was knocked open to obtain a glass shape. Every Lalique vase goes through such a process to obtain a glass sculpture.
These creations were so popular that these famous perfumers commissioned Lalique to design their perfume bottles. Perfume bottle is an important label of perfume, and novel and unique perfume bottle is a perfect gift. Lalique draws from French manufacturing techniques for wine and medicine bottles and explores mass-production techniques for perfume glass bottles.
