Details of Chanel's Collaboration with Finnish Startup on Biobased Cap Development
Apr 29, 2024
The biobased bottle caps developed by Chanel in collaboration with the Finnish startup Sulapac represent a significant innovation for Chanel in sustainable packaging. These caps are made of 91% biobased materials, sourced from renewable resources and FSC-certified wood. This new cap development took two years and underwent a total of 48 tests to ensure that packaging touch, adaptability to different temperatures, sound upon closing, and tightness met high standards.
Furthermore, the cap consists of three layers, indicating its structural complexity and refined design. Since 2021, all 125-milliliter bottles of the Les Eaux De Chanel fragrance collection have utilized this biobased cap. This collaboration not only reflects Chanel's commitment to sustainability but also showcases Sulapac's advanced technology and innovation in biobased materials.
It's worth noting that besides perfume caps, Chanel has also partnered with Sulapac to develop a sustainable biobased cap for the N°1 De Chanel (Chanel No. 1 Camellia) face cream, made from 90% biobased materials, including FSC-certified wood chips. This further demonstrates Chanel's efforts and achievements in advancing the sustainability of cosmetic packaging.
Chanel and Sulapac's collaboration on biobased bottle caps not only achieves high sustainability in material use but also demonstrates high professionalism and innovation in design and functionality.
